The fourth set of 5 Community Meetings for the Lower 8th St, SE Visioning Process was held on January 19th at The Peoples' Church, 535 8th Street, SE. Attendees at the morning and evening meetings heard a recap of the December meeting, learned about the Marines CIMP process and broke out into small groups to discuss possible Lower 8th Street, SE land use and density/height scenarios. These examples were theoretical only and solely for creative discussion purposes.
Community Meeting Minutes are available here.
The presentation can be viewed here.

  1. I would like add one addtional criteria to the development of the area. We need to include ideas that will attract and support local businesses. In the long run, this is the only way to ensure that this area thrives and is ultimately sustainable. Also, parking should be kept to a minimum and the use of public transportation should be promoted and encouraged.
